Full Review
The Joola Hyperion CFS has been the talk of the pickleball world since Ben Johns started dominating with it, and after extensive testing, we understand why. This is a paddle that does everything well and several things exceptionally.
Build & Feel
The Carbon Friction Surface technology gives this paddle a textured face that generates impressive spin without feeling harsh. At 16mm thickness, it strikes a balance between the power of thicker paddles and the control of thinner ones. The elongated shape gives you extra reach that’s immediately noticeable at the kitchen line.
Performance
Drives are penetrating and heavy — opponents feel the weight of your shots. But where this paddle truly shines is in the transition game. Third shot drops feel controlled, and the touch around the kitchen is excellent for a paddle with this much power. The sweet spot is generous, forgiving those off-center hits that happen in fast exchanges.
Spin generation is where the Hyperion earns its reputation. Serves kick with topspin, and slice dinks bite into the court surface. If you’re a player who relies on spin to create angles, this paddle amplifies that part of your game significantly.
The Verdict
The Joola Hyperion CFS 16mm is the real deal. If you're a 3.5+ player looking for a paddle that can grow with your game, this is one of the best available.
